I never follow the instructions in the book on track alignment. After 10 or so tractors that I adjusted on stands and they were way off when put on the ground, I just put them on the ground and test drive. Book spec on track alignment is, drive the tractor in high gear for 1/2 hour, as straight as possible. At the end of the driving, get out and check the temp of the inner and outer idler where the guideblocks run and compare the temps. The temp needs to be within 20*F. If one side is more then 20*F of the other, then loosen the adjuster screw on the cool side, and tighten the adjuster screw on the hot side. 1/4 to 1/2 turn of adjustment, then 1/2 hour drive time again. Use an infared thermometer. I always liked to get the temps the same, if at all possible.

You need to check, as each track made, does run differently and need different alignment. While you have the tracks off, look carefully over the swing link area, the bushings and pins.
