I'm don't really understand what your problem is (if you are saying that there is a problem). BUT....

We had a 12 row 1250 and now a 16 row 1250 -- for both planters, the op manual said to put the hyd control into float after the planter is down. If I remember correctly, the rationale was for the marker to operate. Once the planter lift cylinders are fully retracted, they can't go any farther. Leaving your hyd turned on is not supplying any downpressure to your planting units.

However, since I don't plant with the markers, I have my hyd valve timer set for about 7 seconds. I click it to lower and leave it there until I raise the planter at the end of the field. If we use the markers to get started in a field, it has to be in float or the marker won't stay down.

If you mean 45# in the downpressure air bags, that would be way way way too much downpressure in the conditions that we plant -- one pass with the TM II field cultivator. 45# would give me about 200# downforce margin.
