On our 7830 we added a low pressure return fitting.  It was not recommended to return to the scv, but many on here have had good luck that way.  I'm pretty sure that on a 2 hose system you do not want to return to case with any year JD tractor.  You need something like the pressure return or the port on the side of SCV on the soundgard style tractors.
