North Central Kansas | Amen, brother. Another small farmer, backbone of rural America. My farm is not much bigger than yours. The best thing you can do to be prepared is do the best job you can with what you have. If you own some of your acres and cash flow allows, try some new things on a small scale. No one is holding you back. You are only limited in your mind.
If you are looking to specialize, you can turn some of your equiptment/ablilites into something else you need. For example if you have hay equiptment, trade out with a neighbor for some planting. If you have extra room for cows, just take some in on a custom grazing deal, but, choose your partner wisely. Look for some one that may be soon to retire and use this to build a relationship. Avoid anyone you are uncomfortable with or just doesn't have anything else to offer you. I love helping guys like you, keep your chin up. | |
