west central iowa | I'm 35 years old and been thinking about tieing into some of this high priced farmland. I own 40 acres now that my feedlot sets on. There will be a farm in our neighborhood that sells this fall within 2 miles of my place and dad's. I could buy 30 acres, dad could have 60 and my uncle could take the other 60. Here's the question, 30 acres x $12,000.00= $360,000.00 or convert outside 300 head dirt feedlot to 500 head deep bedded confinement barn that would make the dnr happy but would't increase my current numbers. Cattle barn figures are 500 head x $700.00 /head= $350,000.00. I have a long time to pay for both and interest is low. What should i do? | |
