I remember in the 80's IH made a 5 and a 7 row corn head and I was told they were used in seed corn areas but don't remember hearing anything about 9 row stuff.
You are correct, IH didn't make a 9 row only a 5 & 7.
Quite of few used here on wide rows, allowed the combine to be set at 108-120 and straddle three rows.
