I would mount the tag on the rear, lots easier turning around empty. It has worked well that way for me. In Minnesota you will see more sngle axle pushers, as they cannot
include the duals in the load rating, compared as other states, like ND.

A proper installation should include, plumbing the lift on the tag, to the air controls on the hoist.
And you tie them in so that the hoist cannot be raised without the tag being down.
