I agree with the stamped deck being better. I went to a sales meeting around 12 years ago when Cub Cadet was starting in the commercial z turn market. Thier first model, the 3660, also labeled as MTD PRO, had a stamped deck with very good air flow. A fabricated deck will never have as good of air flow as a stamped deck. Their sales point was the stamped deck was much lower cost to replace if it was damaged, as the shell was around 300-400 instead of 1000 for a fabricated deck. It was also mentioned about the cost of the dies, and that's why the smaller mower compaines always have fabricated decks, they can't afford the stamping equipment. As good as it was, they finally gave in to the commercial marked demand for a fabricated deck a few years later. I ran my dad's Massey Ferguson commercial z turn, with their High Volume stamped 72" deck. It will easily mow extremely tall heavy grass. Quite a machine with a 29 hp diesel, pto shaft drive deck with wet disc clutch.
