| IIRC, all gas in those days (early 70's and before) contained "tetraethyl lead". I have a couple older gas pumps with the plate on the side stating the fuel contains lead.
Unleaded gas didn't come on the scene until the 1975 model year which was the first year for catalytic convertors on cars and 1/2 ton pickups. Around 1977 the automakers had raised the GVWR of most 1/2 tons to 6200 lbs to get away from the CC requirement. By 1979 the 1/2 tons had CC's again. | |
