Southcentral WI
Brad, this works a number of ways. First off, you'll see the dealerships change that do high volumes because of the trades that build up. If one of these dealers has a good relationship with dealers in another area, they may have a good outlet for the used machines, and will be more competitive on trades this way too. However, if they start to accumulate a good number of late-model trade units on the lot, they're going to be much, MUCH less aggressive to trade in another of what they have sitting on the lot. That's why you'll start to see different dealerships over time become the big combine store, then fade out of it. It's not Deere pulling strings or any 'big brother' shenanigans, and this comes back to dealerships communicating. The relocation of the used equipment also has to do with Deere Financial and how they handle lease return units. They offer them to ALL of their respective dealerships around the WORLD via an internal website. Any dealer anywhere can buy one of these combines from Deere at any time, they're constantly available. Small grains machines could easily have the concave switched from a small wire to a large round wire in a days time to make it ready for corn and soybeans, and vice versa. rice machines, however, seem to be a different animal.
