Ignore any of those ads you see for "inventor's help". You're better off if you just take your idea, keep the design to yourself and market the heck out of your invention while you have the chance, and not waste time/money/publicizing the idea with a patent. If it's good enough to get the attention ( i.e., profitable) of a big company then they will copy/steal it anyways, whether or not it has a patent. A patent is only as good as the amount of money you can throw at attorneys to try to defend it in court.
