To my understanding all the Big Cam's were identical for the most part. There were low flow and standard for cooling systems but piston's, liners, cranks, heads, etc were all identical. To make a BC 300 into at BC 350 you upped the fuel or put in bigger injectors and maybe a timing change. To make a BC 350 into a BC 400 you swapped injectors, upped the fuel rate and changed the timing. To make a BC 400 into a BC 444 you swapped injectors upped the fuel rate and changed the timing. To make a BC 444 into a BC 600 you swapped injectors for really big ones, had the fuel pump reworked to flow lots of fuel, added a dual fuel line kit, fed it all the fresh air you could, gave it lots of exhaust flow, changed the timing and if you wanted to really make it live ceramic coated the pistons. To make a BC 600 into a BC 800 you do as mentioned for a BC 600 and change turbos, port the head, balance it, and add retarded huge injectors then enjoy it. A BC 800 has the same crank, pistons (albeit ceramic coated), liners, block, etc as a BC 300. Pretty much any Big Cam is a good engine in my book. Then again so are most 3406's.

I'm no expert so I'm sure I'll get corrected if this statement is very far off. Prior to what I think were called the Select engines (full electronic control) I don't think Cummins offer any HP combinations over 450 from the 855 CID engines (Big Cam). My point being if Cummins produced an engine during that time period (pre early 1990s) that would produce 600 HP it would have been a KTA 600 engine with 1150 CID
