I have 2 of those drills and have never seen any cracks appear on the lid area. I've had the dolly wheels break where the axles fasten. Also check for cracks where the dolly pivot is welded into the frame. It's usually greasy so cracks are hard to see. I've also had fatigue show up where the cylinder connects to the back gang.
