I don't mean to doubt you but I am not grasping this. I have a 4020 ps and a 4630 ps and it's my understanding that the charge pump in the power shift trans supplies the oil to the front pump (the high pressure pump). I know that the charge pump is a gear type pump and I believe that type of pump is known for volume more than pressure. The front pump (I think) is a variable displacement piston pump and can create higher pressure and idle itself to consume less energy when demand is not required. How can the charge pump supply less flow than needed by the front pump without self destructing? | |
