We prefer bearded wheat. It makes a big difference on our farm with regards to deer damage. Deer don't like bearded wheat, relative to beardless.

Have seen them walk through a bearded part of the field to get to a beardless section of the field. We have some fields that we will not plant beardless in. It can be that significant.

Thankfully, our best producing varieties are bearded.
