Subject: RE: manure storage

west central Iowa
Midwest Plan Service publication:

Feeder calf (500#)- 19.17#/day/hd manure production
Finishing cattle- 32.32#/day/hd manure production
Bedding 1.5 bales (1200#) per hd/year = 4.93#/day/hd

The trick is trying to get an accurate average density value.

Example: 32.32 + 4.93= 37.25#/hd/day
37.25# X 90 days X 100 head = 335,250# divided by 50 (#/ft3) = 6705 ft3
Then just divide by height to get your square feet then divide by width or length to determine your last variable.
6705 / 40 ft long / 8 ft tall = 20.95 feet wide

Change the density from 50# to 40# and your width goes to 26.19 feet

Hope this helps.
