Subject: Re: Serving those in need

Richland Center, Wi
My wife and I belong to a local group which does something which I believe is similar to what you desire to start. The group is called, "For a Brighter Day" and is made up of local individuals/couples who each donate $25 per month. There is a meeting once a month, and anyone who knows of a family in need is free to share their story. The group then makes a decison on who to give the money to...and it is done anonymously. People who have received the gift in the past have had medical issues in the family, lost the family home in a fire, had an accident with severe injuries, etc. There are currently about 40 or so donors, but the group is slowly growing. The membership is a nice cross section of our county, so if there are any individuals or families in need, they are generally known about through the normal discussions taking place among neighbors. A family may be in tremendous need, but the gift usually goes to a new recipient every month until the list is exhausted, and then the family in tremendous need may again receive the monthly gift.

Hope this helps.
