That is our thought. Slab on grade with a pole structure on top of it. Steel roofing and siding all the way around. I'm sick of shingles and vinyl.
On the original question. Surely there is a basement repair company around? I'd have them come out and look at it. Heck, if you can't afford it, you might be able to steal some ideas and shore it up. I hate basements.
