We had one doing exactly what you are describing. Too bad in our case it was not fuel related. If all else fails, pull the oil pan and look for plastic parts. Then look up at the front and rear of the inside of your sleeves if you do find plastic pieces. Hope this isn't your problem. A $5 plastic part can cause a lot of damage. Do you sample your oil?
