I will assume since you state " it cranks fine" that it is spinning fast enough. It would seem strange that it would loose it's fuel prime that fast. What did you do "in shop for a few misc things" You know where I'm going with that thought.
I would probably switch out the fuel filters. You may have already done that. I know this isn't your first day at the rodeo. When you pump the hand primer does it feel hard or spongy. I guess I would look for air coming in the fuel system, but that really doesn't seem likely. Maybe low voltage to the ecm check the terminals and breakers on top of the batteries for corrosion or bad connection. That's as far as my thoughts take me. Don't know that I helped
