All my Deeres have zerks on the wheel bearings but, have seen them with plugs before. My 4240 book says every 600 hours to remove pipe plugs on ends of rear axle housings and install grease fittings. Apply grease until until grease appears at seals or a maximum of 25 shots. JD High Temperature/Extreme Pressure grease is recommended in the book. I usually give them 5-10 shots a couple times a year.
