S.C. Wisconsin | After over 40 years of dairying I have seen a lot of startup dairy farms by young people who want to be small and milk a small herd. It's all fun and games for a while but after a while after working 365 days a year without almost no time away from the farm they get burned out. Especially when they begin to have a family with all of the expenses that go with it. Then if they want to buy the farm there will not be enough cash flow to make the payments. I would try to team up with another established dairy farmer and work from there. It's the cruel hard facts of life. | |
