Can't say what are best.  Can comment on what I wouldn't spend a dime on again.............Pella casements.  We have 37yr old ones and 15yr old ones, and I hate that we were dumb enough to let the contractor talk us into the 2nd set 15yrs ago.......they're worse than the older ones.  Sweat, condense, seals unattach for no reason.........a complete PITA.  Our son and d-i-l used Marvins when they remodeled their 1916 Craftsman house, and they have been spectacular so far.  If I were to do another house, I'd look strongly at Marvins.
