| I just had mine on Dec. 1st and let me tell you it was the best thing I did. Had lots of pain before and couldn't walk for long distances. But very IMPORTANT, do your homework first. Find an orthopedic that does the newer kind of hip replacement. It is called the anterior hip replacement. The posterior kind, they made huge incisions from the top of your hip along your butt muscle and then down unto your leg. I literally have about a 4 or 5 inch incision in the front top of my thigh. They don't cut into any big muscles. I was walking the same day as surgery, got to go home the next day and mandatory used a walker for two weeks, then a cane for two weeks. I didn't have to use the high powered pain pills. It takes a special table that this new approach needs. So you have to go to a place that has that and that the doctors are up on the new treatments. Now I didn't have to go to a big mega city to have this done. My little town of less then 10,000 people have it and I know more and more places have it. So make sure before even going for an appointment, you find out if that hospital does that anterior replacement. I am walking/exercising up to 7 miles a day now. Really makes a difference. | |
