Subject: 5088, 6088, older 7010? 7120

Oswald No-Till Farm Cleghorn, IA
Just kicking around ideas regarding a combine upgrade. Currently have a 1996 2166 running 1063 and 25' 1020. Just thinking out of the box. Logical upgrade path might be 5088 but should I think bigger considering how limited the 6 row demand seems to be?

Are those x088's really that much improved over the 23-2588s?

Is the "flagship" line worth that much more for a smaller acreage farmer (not multiple 1,000's acre)? It seems like availability of 6 row type machines with single fronts is more limited than newer dualed up machines.

Looking at 30-35' soybean platform and 6-8 row 30" cornhead capable machine. Obviously bigger machines would be for 8 row CH.

What say you?

TIA
