Our customers give the booms a good spray over with INOX or WD40, especially around the fittings before they use the more corrosive chemicals. I have heard of people using Diesel instead - not sure how this would effect the rubber hoses, etc. longterm. I can also recall Hardi recommending some kind of DULUX branded clear coating on the first couple of pages of their sprayer manuals.
