south central IOWA | I think you could run at least 80 head on your 80 acres pretty easily with the supplements you are talking about. If you and your wife are up to calving that many out. ;-)
To me, silage is the way to go and the equipment to feed it can be bought pretty reasonably (doesn't take anything fancy). Just find the crew to chop and bag it for you, unless you want to do that yourself.
