frederick, MD | Kylesupplee, the only we don't bed with sand, use orbaseal, or quartermaster. Yes I think inverted teat ends are a problem. I was taught by DR David Reid from wi. And how to prevent them. He told me there are 2 schools of thought. Milk the cow slow and gentle, or have good let down and milk them fast with high vaccums. We run 14.5 inches of vac. At the caw. What the meter on the wall says means nothing, other then that it is stable. Good let down, attach milker, suck milk out fast, then get the miler off the cow fast. I have the detach settings on my meters set to rmove the milker after milk flow drops below .8 lbs for 4 seconds. He also told me to dry cows off by putting them in the box stall with only some rough hay for a day. He says once they are dry a natural plug will form and that cow will not get an infection. That man saved my farm by locating several equipment problems. We have not had any problems since, except for a pseudamonas out break from old water hoses | |
