Aggieland | Heres my dilema....1978 6600 Hydro that I bought two years ago because I thought I would repair it to harvesting order and start farming soon. Reality: It needs more than I know how to do/want to do at this time and the farming dream has been halted/scrapped due to financial reasons. So what do I do with it? There is very little to no interest in a machine of this age or size here due to the size of farms around here. It has the 404 non turbo engine in it with what I believe to be 3600 original hours on it. The engine runs like a top, uses no oil, no blow by and starts right up, the combine itself is in poor to fair shape. Needs several things that I know about and several I dont. So what would you do?
1. Scrap the whole thing.
2. Try and sell engine only and scrap the rest.
3. Try and sell the whole unit as is.
4. Try and find a tractor(4430?) with blown engine and then use engine and scrap the rest.
5. Do nothing.
Im looking for outside help and who else to ask than yall. Thanks in advance.
