Kathleen Ga | Well here is a perspective from my families history,2 uncles, brothers, one ran a fleet of 1066's and 1086's thru the 70-80-90's and all equipment was used and needed regular maintenance to keep it going,he invested in land with his profit. He's passed away but has left his son in pretty good shape to farm the rest of his life. The other uncle bought much higher priced equipment and if it broke hired someone to fix it.He drove countless new pickups fullsize and compacts most of the time they would be new at the same time.He bought a brand new C-IH 8910 4WD AND 5140 4WD the same year on top of land he paid too much for at auction,he is 79 and the past 2 years has been subsidized by my mother and aunt,he is on the verge of bankruptcy and if he died tomorrow my mother and aunt would have to bury him.If you take the route of my first uncle,I believe you could survive and make a go of it,but you gotta be willing to do what it takes and place profit in the right place. | |
