KY | I don't think a newly beginning farmer can, without inheritance or windfall. With more acreage brings more income, more expense also. I am looking into a 20 year old tractor and still going to run around $30k + and it's hard enough for me to stomach. Only farm a few hundred acres but that's comparable to a couple thousand when it comes to 3 100k + tractors and a 200k combine. I don't get how it works either, and sometimes as we all see, it doesn't. Many people get more credit than they need often and it turns out bad. You could lump everything I run under 100k altogether counting semi, straight truck, grain and hay equipment. I'd like newer and better, but it's one piece at a time around here, and newer never means new or even close to it. | |
