I ran a 500 and an EZ Steer in a 1086 for a few years. Had a 12 row mounted planter on it using WAAS. It wasn't perfect spacing but it was darn close. I thought the same as you on an older tractor. But once I got it set, it really did work well. I never have run anything other than WAAS, but if I did, I know I would never regret the change. Someday. Good Luck.
