Iowa | I am interested in hearing from anyone who has used Precision Planting's Clean Sweep setup on flat riverbottom heavy gumbo soils.
I can see how the Clean Sweeps combined with a floating row cleaner would be just the ticket in rolling hill ground, but in our area with flat bottomland comprised of heavy gumbo soils it seems that everyone uses rigid screw-adjust cleaners which are set to turn only about 60% to 70% of the time to knock away root wads, etc. Often times on these gumbo soils, we are planting on a thin scab of dry ground with mucky clay just below. You don't want to be too aggressive and get down into this muck or you will have a mess on your hands.
So I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully run a Clean Sweep with a floating row cleaner in this environment! Do you have fine enough control with the air to ensure that you are not too aggressive and break the thin dry crust?
Thanks!
