I've done a bunch of them with the little benchtop cabinet blasters that you can get at Tractor Supply etc. or Harbor Freight using glass beads. Easy to control and no parts lost. Never had a piece that was not paper thin to start with blow through. Since they are gravity feed you can cut the air pressure down pretty low too. You might consider dipping it in carb cleaner, but the new stuff does not work nearly as well as the old stuff 20 years ago. I have done 100's of farm toys in my little blaster and only had to replace the tip 2 or 3 times in 5 years. They do a great job and are actually pretty useful around the farm too.
