NEWTON, IL (SE IL.) | The magnets mentioned are mounted on the steering column, & sense when the driver takes-over the steering. That will disengage the auto-steer.
How far off it will drift depends on the time it takes you to make a pass. All Regular GPS (not RTK) has a drift factor. When you read about how accurate a system is, it is on a pass-to-pass measurement. If you stop today, come back tomorrow, your line will have drifted off some.
With the Outback, it will depend alot which unit you use. The S-2 is getting within 3-4" in my area on the planter. For some people this is good enough, some others want more accuracy. It depends alot on what your needs are. The tilt comp is a great help also, to answer Tuck's concern.
One thing no tilt comp can change is the side-draft of the implement. Even with RTK, if you're in rolling terrain, you will encounter some side-draft. The only war to COMPLETELY remove that , is to steer the implement. There are systems to do that, but right now are costly. Don't know what your terrain is Tuck, but if really rolling, the tilt will not completely fix you either. | |
