Statesville, NC | All the 404's were gas, or maybe a few LP's. There were two types, row crop and utility. The row crop is somewhat more rare. They have the same wheels and axles as the C, 200, 230 etc. Some of the desirable options were power steering, wide front, and the high and low range. The high range was an overdrive and they had a fast road speed for the time, about 22 mph. Their downfall as an older usable tractor is they didn't ever have live pto. It was not even an option. The 36 pto hp in a C size frame made a pretty snappy little tractor. The C135 engine parts should be available. I'm sure the engine was used in other tractors and industrial machines. | |
