We have a passive sytem on a shop.We built the panel maybe 7 or 8 years ago. I can take some pictures soon, but yes it should prevent freezing in an insulated shop if the panels big enough. In our case we had about $1000 in materials in it, lowered the fuel requirements (lp) about 200 gal a year.
