Thanks guys. This might sound silly, but I'm trying to think of a way to plant winter canola behind irrigated wheat, and after seeing pics from a guy on TCF (not sure if he posts here or not) I think the Early-Riser opener is the way to go. He was using a 1240 on 15in, but that's somewhat above what I could ever afford for a small experiment. The fun part would be making the Cyclo-Air meter work with canola. Seed spacing wouldn't concern me too much in this case, and I think being able to singulate seed would put it ahead of an air seeder (assuming it would ever work in the first place).

Dad used to have an 800 plate planter. We got rid of it when I was a kid, so all I really remember are the Acra-Plant trash whippers he put on for ridge-till and the itchy arms after filling the fiberglass hoppers. He said he liked the opener, though.

So how small is canola seed?? Way smaller than milo? There are milo drums available plus probably 15 others with various seed size holes.
