I found the same thing before and felt I found the problem, but it wasn't it. I have an air leak no question. Just not looking forward to pulling out the whole dash. Vehicle has almost 175K. Also, the whole dash has to come out to replace the blower motor if it ever died. I don't know if I dare put the old one back in if I go to all of this work.
