4010 for all around everyday things. If you were just going to plow & that's it...then it was hard to beat the IH engine & TA...until it went out. 4010 was simpler (= cheaper) to work on. Once the 4020 got here...then not even close..JD a big winner.

Never had an 800, but had a 400 Cyclo. The Cyclo was revolutionary, it seems, but he 7000 was built better & many times more accurate.

IH M & JD 70 weren't in the same category, I don't think. M came out in '39, though built thru '51? JD 70 came out in '50? M was lower hp, but still, it is the winner of all time tractors, if you ask me. They're still running good in many places today.

Don't know on rifles...we had M-14s.
