Statesville, NC | Some of the year models don't overlap much in the comparisons. The 4010 and 806 both would only be available new one year; 1963. In '61 and '62 it would have been a 560 or a 4010, I think no contest. From '64 to '67 it would be a 4020 or 806. 806 may have been a little tougher and more reliable in some areas, but I think the 4020 was much more advanced and comfortable.
The IH M would compete with either a JD A gasoline or G all fuel. Probably no clear winner here, both had their good and bad points but nothing outstanding. In that era I would rather have an Oliver with a fully indepent pto and live lift.
I like the Gleaners because of their simple, rugged design. I liked the JD's in the 45-105 series but never liked the 3300-8820's because it looked like Deere wanted to copy Massey with the engine on the side, and being much harder to work on. | |
