Not better now, but better at doing the job given the requirements of its time.

IH 800 or JD 7000
Farmall M or JD 70
(or whatever JD had that competed at that time
)
7720 or L3
Steiger Couger 3 or 865 Versatile
AK 47 or M 16A1
(after they chrome-lined the barrel and slowed down the rate of fire
)
