mascoutah, IL | I've got a neighbor that still plants 24,000 on 200 bushel corn ground (not sure he is raising 200). Hard to believe, I started with dad in 87 and think we were planting that heavy then. Anyway to answer the question the box holds roughly 100lbs, my kinze does anyway Depends on seed size how far it will plant. Have seen 80,000 kernal bags from 32-65 lbs. I would say 45 is about average. In my area normally a bag will go from 2.2 to 2.7 acres per bag. So an average bag in my area using the average population will plant about 5.4 acres per row. 12 row planter = 64.8 acres, 16 row = 86.4 acres, 24 row = 129.6 acres. Now the bulk fill planters are a whole different thing. I hope that didn't confuse you, I definately have too much time on my hands this morning.
