Northeast Nebraska
I did a 40' flatbed about a month ago and now did a 20' GN pickup trailer. I sandblasted them. Rented an air compressor and sandblaster. IMO sandblasting is the only way to go if you are dealing with much rust.

I painted them with an epoxy paint. Its from Sherwin-Williams. Its called Macropoxy 646. It looks really durable, but I dont know how it will stand up to gravel road rock chips just yet. I'd recommend it. You do not need to prime with the macropoxy, but you do need 2 coats.
