Unless he is just a simply exceptional employee in all other aspects outside of being dumb enough to drink and drive, he'd probably have disqualified himself from employment here.   If he's head and shoulders above any other employee, then maybe try to work out something that ends up costing you not one cent more than the coverage you would normally have on him.  This is going to take a lot of communication with your insurance person.  If the drinking driver is basically a steering wheel holder, then I think he might be shown the door.  You didn't take 'em to raise.
