Mid-Missouri
My eyes didn't have to tell me where the problem teeth were, my fingers could do that. We used that transmission for almost a thousand acres after the knock was noticed, some of which consisted of second gear operation. I am really not concerned of more teeth being cracked any more than any other gear on that combine, or any other on the farm.

Yes, there is definite detent on the shift rails. It is difficult to feel in the cab when it goes through the linkage, cables, and long handle. On top of that, there is no gate for the shifter handle which makes it hard to identify how engaged the gears are.
