west central Iowa | Bought a used one for $900 from a buddy. Ground 20,000 bu. corn/cob mix with it that fall. We put 2 attachments on the spout... one for water the other for syrup. Operational expense about $10 worth of grease. Tried grass bales because the custom grinder couldn't get there in time...figured out to about $25/ton depending on how $free$ you are. I'm more productive at other tasks on our farm. But that rotogrind did a great job on that corn. Have the rpm at operational speed before material goes in or u plug. Also, the corn got so dry that you couldn't see 2 ft. with all the dust. We then moved the water to drop directly into the mill. Zero dust like you turned a switch. The mill just wouldn't throw the corn as far and you had to watch it closer and keep it away. | |
