We've got a Westendorf bale spear that is pretty much like what you've got, 1 long one with 2 short ones below and to the sides.

The long spear is made with spring steel of some sort.  It is tapered and the tapered part is square not round.     It fits into a tapered sleeve with a nut on the back side of the sleeve pulling it in tight.       It will not stay bent.   With enough pressure it will flex down but will spring right back.

The only downside to it is that it won't give you any warning as to what its limit is before it breaks.   We've broke one before while trying to tear apart a frozen bale, just a bang and the bale fell on the ground.

I've seen the same type of spears on MDS attachments also.
