Subject: Re: questions about precision ag equipment

Chester, GA and Griffith, IN
Most of our equipment, tractor wise is older. The main one we use is the 7140 we use our older tractors for the grunt work. We have a 1640 combine and a 9960 JD picker. Autosteer is something we are interested in but likely yield monitors and field maps are what we are interested in first but honestly wide open interested in what others who have used things would say was their best bang for the buck. Some of the fields I'm going to pick up in the coming years slope heavily or have a change in soil texture in the field so wanting to map it to find the best way to handle those changes.

Our current land is in good shape and overall well taken care of. The larger farmer that is quiting in a couple of years the problem is that several fields he has he has let soil nutrient levels get law, he has cut his fertilizer back and it is hurting his yields and his cultivation style has reduced organic content heavily and the soils need building up, which the owner is aware of and wants to work on getting this fixed. So again for us it is mostly looking to the future as far as where to go with things.
