Central Illinois | I apologize for the spelling as I am doing this on the phone.
My daughter suffered a "category 4" brain anurism and stroke three weeks ago. We are 5,000 miles from home, so we are relying on hospital staff for care and advice. ICP's will not stay down and she has had quite a few vasospasms. They have her on a ventilator, and keep saying we just need time.
Her mother suffered a stroke several years ago, and is 70% blind, paralyzed on her left side and lives in a nursing home. Daughter has said she never wants to be like that. I very clearly expressed those feelings to doctors, but only one of the four attending her heard me. Yesterday, I asked hospital for joint meeting with doctor a d ethics board. They don't do that here, but dr did talk more to me this morning, and said she wished she had known that earlier. I kinda got testy, told her I did tell her the first day, then she remembered. Unfortunately, dr who did here me is under other doctors. Said. She will never work again, can probably watch tv and eat with us, but don't know severity of blindness or paralysis yet. I know daughter does not want this.
Has anyone here enjoyed life after this? Do doctors ever listen? Sorry, just had to rant.
P.S. I can't move her, we are stuck in Hawaii | |
